calx.io/QLD Long Service Leave Calculator

Calculate long service leave in Queensland: 8.67 weeks after 10 years, and the 7 year pro-rata rules for redundancy and illness.

Your Service

Continuous service with the one employer (or business, through sales and restructures). Approved unpaid leave usually does not break continuity but may not count towards it.

Estimates only, not legal advice. Long service leave is state law and the fine print (casual continuity tests, what counts as ordinary pay, misconduct exclusions) varies. Construction, cleaning, security and community services workers are often under portable schemes with different rules. Confirm with your state's authority before relying on a figure.

Frequently asked questions

How much long service leave do I get in Queensland?

8.6667 weeks after 10 years of continuous service under the Industrial Relations Act 2016, then a further 4.3333 weeks at 15 years. Part-timers and casuals accrue proportionally to their ordinary hours.

Do I get long service leave if I resign in Queensland?

Between 7 and 10 years, only in limited cases: you die, you leave because of illness or a domestic or other pressing necessity, you are dismissed for a reason other than your conduct, capacity or performance (redundancy qualifies), or the dismissal is unfair. A plain resignation before 10 years pays nothing.

Does casual work count towards long service leave in Queensland?

Yes. Casuals accrue LSL if their service is continuous, using the formula of total ordinary hours divided by 52, times 8.6667, divided by 10. Regular seasonal breaks generally do not break continuity.
