You will need: income statement, interest and dividends, work and rental deductions.
Your Income
Gross income from your income statement
The total tax your employer withheld during the year
Interest, dividends, rental, capital gains, business, and more.
The cash amount you received. Enter franking credits separately below, or they are counted twice.
The tax the company already paid on your dividends, shown on your dividend statement.
Rent received before expenses. Put the expenses under Deductions.
Your profit: what you sold for, minus what you paid and your costs. Not the sale price.
Your net profit after business expenses, including personal services income. There is no separate field for the expenses.
Car, travel, meal and other allowances shown on your income statement.
Your share of the income, from the statement the trust or partnership sent you.
Foreign income you have to declare in Australia. Tax you already paid overseas is not modelled, so this can overstate what you owe on it.
Taxable payments only, such as JobSeeker or the Age Pension. Family Tax Benefit and other tax-free payments are not included.
Deductions
Deductible expenses for your rental property.
Only if you paid full premiums and are claiming the rebate in your return. If your fund already reduced your premiums, leave this blank or it is counted twice.
Your Situation
Medicare and surcharge figures use single thresholds unless you add a spouse or dependent children. Reportable super and fringe benefit add-backs are not modelled; net rental losses are added back automatically.

Frequently asked questions
What does the refund estimate include?
All common income types (salary, interest, dividends and franking credits, rental, capital gains, business, trust and foreign income), 15 categories of work-related deductions, 9 rental expense categories, the Low Income Tax Offset, the Seniors and Pensioners Tax Offset, the Medicare levy and surcharge, and HECS/HELP repayments.
How accurate is the estimate compared to my ATO assessment?
It applies the same published rates and offsets the ATO uses, so for straightforward returns it should land very close. Complex situations (PAYG instalments, multiple offsets, prior-year losses, study loan indexation timing) can move the final number. Treat it as a planning estimate, not a lodgement.
How does the capital gains discount work?
If you held an asset for more than 12 months before selling, the 50% CGT discount toggle halves the capital gain included in your taxable income, matching the ATO discount method for individuals.
Can I give the result to my accountant?
Yes. Export a CSV aligned to MYOB and Xero conventions, print a clean summary, or send them a share link that restores exactly what you entered. Nothing is uploaded anywhere; the data lives in the link itself.
